Exalted Ruler Message – June 2010
By
Andrea Edstrom Frank
They were the first Exalted Rulers of the Bismarck Elks Lodge and the Mandan Elks Lodge, respectively. I’m sure that they would be proud of the legacies that both lodges created in their communities and of the legacy that the Bismarck-Mandan Lodge continues to create in our fine cities and state.
The list of Past Exalted Rulers is extensive, and each and every one of them has made an imprint on what we are today. The road has not always been smooth, but dedication, hard work, and passion for the benevolent works of Elkdom have allowed our lodge to persevere and grow, bringing us to our 100th anniversary.
This month’s newsletter features several upcoming events and projects that are in honor of our 100th anniversary. I encourage you to read about each event or project carefully and consider participating in and contributing to all of them.
Although your lodge officers have been busy planning for our 100th anniversary special events, the lodge has continued to carry-on the programs that have become a rich part of our history.
Student Government Day was a big success thanks to the organization of Lodge Esquire, Sheldon Babeck.
For the first time in the history of Band Night Parade, our lodge was present in the parade with a bannered vehicle, walkers handing out treats, and Elroy the Elk. Thanks to Esteemed Leading Knight, Rick Debolt and Trustee/Drug Awareness Chair/PER, Steve Vaughan for their work in organizing our parade presence.
Our Girls Soccer Shoot was also in May. This was another great event with hundreds of girls participating. Thanks for organizing the shoot this year goes to Soccer Shoot Chair, Nate Palczewski, Esteemed Loyal Knight, Scott Volkert, and Chaplain, Terry Lincoln.
Of course, none of these events would be successful without the support of our member volunteers, so a big thanks to them, as well!
You can see that the Bismarck-Mandan Elks Lodge is working hard to continue its legacy of positive impact in our communities.
