Wine Glasses
The PER’s have added a new item to the Anniversary collection: wine glasses etched with the Elks logo and the 100th Anniversary logo as well. The cost of two wine glasses, specially packaged in a gift box, is $11.99. What a great way to enjoy a 100th Anniversary bottle of Elks wine by serving the wine in our very own wine glasses.

Wine
The donation per wine bottle is $11.99. You may purchase as many bottles of wine as you like.

Personalized Bricks
The donation per brick is $50.00. Each brick is allowed a name of up to two lines, fourteen spaces each. Inscription may include names of people (other inscriptions subject to approval). All letters of the alphabet, numbers 0 through 9, periods and commas may be used. Please print the names you’d like to appear on the bricks and be sure to carefully check the spelling before signing. Personalized bricks will pay for a Dakota Mahogany Granite 100th Anniversary Memorial Monument to be placed in the front of our Lodge building near the flag pole.

Posted by: Elks Lodge #1199 | Comments (0)

Remember, when the weather is hot the Elks would be more than happy to do the cooking for you. Stop in for our noon lunch specials served Monday through Friday for only $5.95, or nightly specials in our elegant dining room, and, of course, our famous Prime Rib served nightly. Regular or Cajun blackened; it’s not just for Saturdays anymore!

If you enjoy the hot summer weather and want a few cocktails in the sun, take advantage of our patio. We have a special patio menu and entertainment now and then for your listening pleasure. Wednesdays, August 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th, will feature Tom O’Neill on the patio (weather permitting). The patio is considered bar area and is off limits to minors. Take a look at the Elks Bucket list! Buckets of beer that is. On special on the patio all summer!

Camp Grassick Day is right around the corner. Join us for a free pit BBQ meal at Camp Grassick on Sunday, July 18th. Bring the whole family! This is our major State Project. BYOB and great food! Real old fashioned pit BBQ! Remember to show pride in our camp for children with special needs this summer by attending Camp Grassick Day, on Lake Isabel just south of Dawson, ND.

This July, starting July 6th, we will celebrate Caribbean Month at the Elks. Our dining room will feature succulent coconut shrimp, Jamaican jerked steak, and Jamaican jerked chicken, with pineapple/mango salsa, a Jamaican jerked chicken sandwich with crosscut fries, and Jamaican jerked chicken wings. $4.50 Tropical drinks like banana, mango, and strawberry daiquiris, pina coladas and Bacardi flavored mojitos will be on special in Lounge 1199 and on the patio for Caribbean Month.

Join us for the 100th Anniversary Banquet on Thursday, July 15th for a centennial celebration of Elkdom here at Bismarck/Mandan Elks 1199. 1199 wine samples to start the night. For dinner: house salad with spring greens, choice of prime rib, shrimp, or orange roughy, great wines including: Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon, Firestone chardonnay and Loredona Riesling, and peach cobbler for dessert. Elks pictures and memorabilia items will be on display. Following the banquet, dance to Ricky D. and the Elvis Tribute Band’s “50 years of rock and roll show.” Tickets to this event are $35, see ad for details.
Scott Prebys’ Jamaican Meh Crazee will play smooth Island music on Friday, July 9th and Friday, July 23rd on the patio. “Ricky D and the Elvis tribute band” will play “50 years of rock and roll” July 15th & 16th, Sportin’ Wood will play in the TR Lounge on Saturday the 24th, and Elijah Dixon will play on the patio on July 31st.

Entertainment in August will include: Tom O’Neill on the Patio Wednesdays, August 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th, and Scott Prebys on the patio Friday, August 20th.

Get your 100th anniversary pint glasses while they’re hot! Buy an anniversary pint glass for $10 and receive $1 tap beer on Fridays all through August!!

We would like to take a moment to thank all of the volunteers who donated their time to work at the McQuade weekend Elks/Stadium charity burger & beer garden. Every year it seems to be getting bigger and better. Your participation and thoughtfulness really counts and is appreciated. Thank You!

Our dining room wine features will vary in July and August, and will include: Redwood Creek zinfandel, Ste Chapelle Soft Red, Beringer Muscato, and Toad Hollow chardonnay. Enjoy!
And finally, our annual Vikings – Twins trip information: It’s a double header weekend!

This year we’ll be taking a two night weekend trip, September 17–19. We’re taking a Harlow’s luxury coach from the Elks 1199 on Friday, September 17th at 1pm sharp to the Holiday Inn Select near the Mall of America. The amenities include: light rail system, indoor pool, exercise room, restaurant and bar, and free shuttle service to the Mall. Possible side trips: Saturday afternoon, an optional Twins Game vs Oakland trip for $80 seats in the legends club seating area. (Must indicate interest in Twins game at time of signing up and pay in full because these tickets are hard to get), or the Casino at Mystic lake that evening. Sunday, the BIG GAME: Vikings vs Miami at noon. Cost is $409 per person, dbl. occupancy. Cost of trip includes cost of all Beer, drinks, Bloody Marys, Clam Diggers, Screwdrivers, pop, and water on the bus, sandwiches, chips, and snacks on the way down, a Saturday wine and cocktail party (beer too) hosted by Steve and Sherry Furcht following the Twins game, 2 nights hotel stay, continental breakfast, lower level game tickets, and beer and drinks for tailgating at the game. Once again, Twins tickets will be an optional expense ($80 per person). We’ll be taking the first 30 people who pay in full. Pick-up spots will include: Bismarck Elks, Steele, Jamestown Mall, Fargo Petro and other locations along I-94 if needed (make arrangements with Steve). Sign up soon, first pay – first stay. For information call Steve at the Elks at 255-1199 or at home at 258-7546. Or sign up and pay at the office from 9:30-4:00 M-F at the Elks (must pay to get on the list). Let’s have some fun and let someone else do the driving!

Have a great Fourth of July and enjoy the summer!

See you at the Elks
Steve

America is celebrating its birthday in July, and so are we! We are truly blessed to have the privilege of being born in this great country. By the good fortune of birth place, we are citizens of the greatest country in the world and enjoy liberties that are the envy of the world’s peoples. As Elks, we recognize the blessings we have as American citizens and honor those who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom. As you celebrate Independence Day, may you do so with a thankful heart and with fun-filled activities with family and friends.

Lodge 1199’s birthday celebration is going to be held on Thursday, July 15 which is our charter day. On that date in 1910, our lodge received its official charter from the Grand Lodge. We will be celebrating this BIG day with a banquet beginning at 6:30 followed by a dance. There are a limited number of tickets available for this very special event, so get yours now! We will have a delicious full dinner, fine wines, and a fun trip down memory lane. After the banquet, we will enjoy entertainment and dancing with the “50 Years of Rock and Roll Show” featuring Ricky D and the Elvis Tribute Band. This group comes to us with great credentials and will be lots of fun! The order form for tickets is in this newsletter, or you can stop in at the office to get your tickets. Please make plans to join us for this VERY special day!

You perhaps have noticed the beautiful limited edition print, “Majestic History”, in the main lobby. It was created exclusively for the 100th Anniversary of our lodge. There are only, and will only be, 200 of these prints available. It is a strictly limited edition. The prints are on sale now. Reserve a print for yourself now by using the order form in this newsletter or by downloading the form at www.bismanelks.com. Prints are selling quickly, so act fast!

June was a busy month for our lodge. Two of our biggest fundraisers were held in June: the 5th Annual Elks/Jerome’s Distributing Golf Scramble and the Annual Elks/McQuade Distributing Burger, Brat and Beer Stand. Thank you to all of the officers and members who helped with those events. Your dedication and hard work are truly appreciated. Thanks to the volunteer crew who came out on Father’s Day to help with painting and “spiffing-up” the TR Bar, with special thanks to Rick and Kathy Parkes for spearheading this effort. Our TR bar looks great! The Bismarck-Mandan Elks Lodge was also represented at the 100th Birthday Celebration of the Boy Scouts and at the Dakota Zoo Children’s Day. All of these events were able to happen because of the active participation and coordination of lodge officers and members. If you’d like to be involved in upcoming volunteer events, please contact one of the lodge officers.

Throughout the warm days of July and August, relax and take time to absorb the beauty that is our America!

Congratulations to Marina Brackel, our Bismarck-Mandan Lodge #1199 Elk of the Year!

Marina was given this award at the Installation of Officers in late March, and will now compete at the state level for the North Dakota Elks Association Elk of the Year award.

From walking in a parade for Elks Drug Awareness to spending an entire weekend helping at our burger, brat and beer stand during the McQuade Softball Tournament to shagging balls at Soccer Shoots, Marina is there and is always willing to lend a hand. She may be soft-spoken, but her acts of kindness and her spirit towards Elkdom speak well for her character.

Marina is an exemplar of our motto that “Elks Care, Elks Share.” Best of luck at the State Convention, Marina! We are proud of you!
